On the latest episode of theLet's Be Honest with Kristin Cavallaripodcast, John revealed that he was "livid" when Samantha turned down his kissin a now-viral momenton the Fox dating series. "[I] ripped off my mic…I was pissed off because the date was like all about drinking martinis," he said of the pair's date. "I love martinis, so I thought, 'Why don't you do that? Because it's your thing.' So I drank an entire thing of Grey Goose. I don't mix it with vermouth. It was just straight vodka. So I was feeling good. She was looking good, I was feeling good." FOX He noted that while filming the date, producers were encouraging him to lock lips with Samantha. "I was like, alright," he recalled. "She was looking at my lips the whole time… I don't really know what else to ask her. And they were like, I think you got more questions. And she was like, yeah, I think you got something else." "Oh my gosh, she baited you," hostKristin Cavallariexclaimed. Right after the near-kiss happened, John recalled, "I took my mic off…[and said,] You tricked me and all this stuff and walked away." When asked if said that directly to Samantha, he clarified, "Not to her. I was mad at the producers." As fans may recall, Samantha told John that she could not "kiss you on camera" after brushing away his advances. "There's a reason for that," she explained. "I'm going to marry someone someday. It might be you, it might not be you, and I don't want something of me kissing another man on television. If it's you, then we don't have anything to worry about." John admitted he thought the date would be "going a different way," and he was confused because they were on a dating show. However, Samantha didn't back down and shared that those were "my values," adding, "I want my husband to have more than that." "Well, I do very much respect it and I understand it," John replied. Samantha later left the series, telling John he was "very much someone that likes to be in the driver's seat — and so am I." "I think you need someone who's going to let you lead," she said. Afterward, John told PEOPLE there were "definitely some interesting turns" that his relationship with Samantha took before she left the show. "It was quite an interesting ride," he said. "I thought she was like a challenge because I feel like she was testing my words. With everyone else, I was kind of asking them questions more about them." fox John also shared details of his split from another dater, Chloe, who he called an "absolute doll," on the podcast. However, one of Chloe's actions — a wet willy — was an ick for John. He explained, "They don't really know me well enough. So like, she wet willied me one time." "So that type of stuff is just not for me," John added. "It's for some people, not for me." He added that he turned off the "let's just joke around" attitude in the early stages of a relationship. "Oh my I mean, I could see after you've been dating for a year and you wanna pull some s— on someone," Cavallari said and John responded, " I mean, at that point, I wouldn't care."
