When the Broadway star tied the knot with Brian Gallagher in 2013, the couple celebrated with a pajama party instead of a traditional reception. The actress, 44, and her musician beau, 45, exchanged vows in a surprise ceremony in Las Vegas in 2013 that culminated with an intimate — and very cozy — party. "We had the best wedding," Hilty tells PEOPLE at the Tony Awards' "Meet the Nominees" event on Thursday, May 8. "Me and Brian Gallagher decided to kind of elope to Las Vegas," Hilty recalls. "We didn't tell anybody but our immediate family, and so they were all there. We got married at the Venetian and, while we were getting married downstairs, they set up our reception in our suite and everybody changed into their pajamas. We had a pajama party for our reception." The couple welcomed a daughter, Viola Philomena Gallagher, in 2014 and a son, Ronan Laine Gallagher, in 2017. Now 10 and 8 years old, respectively, Hilty and Gallagher are raising their children in New York City. "It's been great being in New York with the kids," Hilty says. "They've adjusted. It was a little hairy in the beginning, but they've really done really well. And we might be here for the long haul." Viola and Ronan have also made it to the theater, especially to seeDeath Becomes Her. "They've seen it a lot," Hilty says, adding, "My son keeps begging me to tell him, like, to give all the magic secrets, and I'm like, 'Dude, I can't give away the magic. You're going to tell people. We can't do that. You got to keep it magic.' " The children were also in attendance when her Sardi's portrait was unveiled at the iconic restaurant in April. A love of the arts runs in the family for Hilty, who shares her 10-year-old daughter "is a singer as well." "She has quite the voice," Hilty notes, adding, "It doesn't scare me that my daughter is interested in the arts because this career has brought me so much joy and it's caused me to go to the most amazing places and meet the most amazing people." "I want her to be passionate about whatever she does," thePatsy & Lorettaactress says. "And if it's the performing arts great. At least she'll see from my perspective that it's really, really tough. So she'll have to really want it."
