The 38-year-old actress opened up about the subject while chatting exclusively withParadeahead of the Season 2 premiere ofHulu'sNine Perfect Strangers, on which she and Baranski, 73, play estranged mother-daughter duo Imogen and Victoria, respectively. They're so deeply underqualified to be proper mothers," Murphy tellsParadeof their onscreen characters. "I think this one [Christine] did end up trying her best when all was said and done, but it took 35 years, and then Moira was more of, I think a friend than a mother. That's what she would've preferred to be labeled, I think." As for whether or not Murphy pulled some of herSchitt's Creekcharacter into herNine Perfect Strangersrole, the Emmy-winning actress tellsParadethat it was a completely different experience portraying Imogen in the show's forthcoming Season 2. "I think they're very separate characters. I think they're both kind of spoiled children and women, but I think that they would've butted heads pretty significantly, and Imogen would've probably written Alexis off as a bit of an airhead," she explains.
