In PEOPLE's exclusive first look at the May 25 episode ofMobLand, Maeve (Mirren) is demanding answers from her husband Conrad (Brosnan) after he extends a dinner invitation to Alice (Emily Barber). "Alice? Alice? Who the f--- is Alice?" Maeve questions while the pair are in a sauna — the repeated phrase seemingly a reference to the '70s British hit song "Living Next Door to Alice" — to which Conrad says, "What? She's a friend of Jan's [Joanne Froggatt]." Paramount Plus/YouTube "Who you invited to dinner?" Maeve says and Conrad asks his wife, "What's your point?" Maeve thinks his interests may not be so pure and she wants to know if he's "wanting to ride her." "Not especially," Conrad clarifies and she adds, "Yes. Well, you're not stupid enough to do it under my roof. So, I think you're up to something." "I was merely trying to find out who she is," she claims. "It's as simple as that." "Oh, you think she's undercover, do you?" Maeve demands. "Want to strip her bare [and] find a wire? Is that the plan?" Paramount Plus/YouTube "I don't need to strip anyone bare to find a wire. When I have these, these and this," he says, indicating to his eyes, ears and nose. Maeve then delivers one final blow, threatening, "Yes, well, you stick to that or you'll be losing these," while pointing to his lower region. MobLandfollows Conrad, "the head of an organized crime family," and his fight "for power within a global crime syndicate," according to an official synopsis. Mirren previously opened up about the onscreen dynamic between Conrad and Maeve, tellingParade, "He listens to her, and they've been a partnership in crime ever since they were in their early teens. They got together in their early teens, and they've been together ever since. And they've very successfully forged this crime industry together." Mike Marsland/WireImage "So they are dependent upon each other; they are competitive with each other," she added. "They are critical of each other. They love each other, but it's not unconditional love, I don't think." As for working with Brosnan, the actress had nothing but praise for her costar, telling the outlet, "I just adored working with him. He's absolutely seriously, the best, guy to work with." She shared, "And I think both of us loved our characters, because I don't think either of us have ever played a character like the characters that we're playing. I can't think of anything that Pierce has done that is this crime boss Conrad Harrigan that he's playing. And I've certainly never played anyone like Maeve except when I played Lady Macbeth many years ago."
