As of now, Fried Pickles will be available for a limited time alongside the new summer BBQ menu items, the company announced in a press release obtained by PEOPLE. "These golden, tangy bites take pickles from a sandwich topping to main character status," Shake Shack teased. "Featuring thick, juicy dill pickles fried to perfection, with a crisp outer layer packed full of flavor, for everything your summer BBQ (and beyond!) needs," the post added. "These Fried Pickles come with a side of our Buttermilk Ranch and can be enjoyed on their own, but they're even better when paired with a Sandwich, hot dog or even our Crinkle Cuts," Shake Shack wrote. "Last year, one-third of guests who tried the BBQ lineup shared their excitement for the fried pickle topping," the company added in the release, referencing the Carolina BBQ Burger with Fried Pickles and the Carolina BBQ Chicken Sandwich with Fried Pickles items which include the tasty treat. The side is made using crispy dill pickles in Shake Shack's "proprietary brine," with them being "lightly coated in a flavorful batter, perfectly seasoned and fried until crispy, then served with a side of house-made Shack Ranch for dipping," the company said, confirming that pricing starts at $3.99. Shake Shack said that the Fried Pickles' addition to the menu comes after one-third of Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs) consumers "expressed interest in more side options to pair with their favorite Shake Shack burgers and sandwiches," adding, "Shake Shack listened, and delivered." Last month, the chain confirmed the return of the summer BBQ menu, revealing that the Smoky Classic BBQ Burger, the Smoky Classic BBQ Chicken Sandwich, the Carolina BBQ Burger with Fried Pickles, the Carolina BBQ Chicken Sandwich with Fried Pickles, as well as the Spicy Fries and Spicy Cheese Fries would all be back nationwide as of May 2.
