FX released the trailer for the hit show's fourth season on Tuesday, May 20. The first look teases a race against time to keep the restaurant running, an anticipated wedding and the return ofJamie Lee Curtis' troubled matriarch character. The trailer opens with Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) speaking generally about the restaurant experience. "People go to restaurants to be taken care of, to relax, to not have to think about anything else for a minute," the chef says. Unfortunately, as seen in the previous seasons, the restaurant crew often takes a lot of heat to keep the ship running smoothly. One side of the pressure is brought to light when Jimmy "Cicero" Kalinowski (Oliver Platt) warns Carmy that he is running out of time to bring in a profit with the establishment, which was previously renamed The Bear from The Beef. FX Pointing to a ticking clock, Cicero, also known as Uncle, says, "That clock is telling you how much money we have left. When that shows '0,' this restaurant needs to cease operations." With the countdown started, Carmy and Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) find themselves needing to be on the same page when it comes to operating the restaurant. At the end of season 3, Sydney still had not committed to officially being Carmy's business partner. "I get it, chaos and turmoil," she tells Carmy in the trailer. "But it's a problem when you're letting it fuel you and fuel the food." The two appear to be on the same page. Carmy seems motivated to drop his hot-head attitude, as he is shown sharing positive sentiments, such as, "We can do this… We can make people happy…" Meanwhile, Richard "Richie" Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) continues to take his job as maître d' seriously; Tina Marrero (Liza Colón-Zayas) spreads her signature wisdom to her teammates; and Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto (Abby Elliott) and Pete (Chris Witaske) finally tie the knot after welcoming their first child in the prior season. The fourth season will also bring back some familiar faces, such as Curtis, who has played matriarch Donna Berzatto since season 2. The mother is seen having an overdue conversation with Carmy after previously skipping the opening of his restaurant. She greets him at Sugar's wedding with a heartfelt, "Hi, Bear." FX She is later shown giving Sydney some key advice: "Sometimes your work family is closer to you than your family-family." That begs the question: Will Sydney stay at The Bear? With the trailer teasing a new leaf for Carmy and his personal issues, as well as several intense conversations between Carmy and Sydney, and an emotional hug between Sydney and Richie, it is fair to assume that she will be forced to make a decision in the season.
